Apparently the New York Jets quarterback was ready to start a huge fight with his coach Rex Ryan last December because Ryan was going to pull him out after a disappointing performance. He was horrible that day; I hit more numbers playing an online bingo game than what Sanchez hit for completed passes that afternoon.

“I wanted to fight him,” Sanchez says in the current issue of GQ magazine where he was on the cover. “I was really mad.” “Rex is super honest. I wish he wasn’t that honest at times, especially to say that.”

According to the article Rex wanted to pull out Sanchez in a practice so that the backup quarterback Mark Brunell can take the repetitions. “I was like, ‘He can come tell me,’” Sanchez tells GQ. “And (Schottenheimer) is like, ‘Come on, man, don’t do that.’”

“It was a tense moment. … To see him fight back and press back with that, it was good to see”, the guard, Brandon Moore said.

Sanchez said he was furious and that he wanted to start a fist parade. “I was really upset about that,” Sanchez said to the reporters. “That’s a pride thing. Those are my reps and I take a lot of pride in playing. I knew I hadn’t been playing well, but regardless, I was going to prove I was The Guy. “(Brunell) told me after that, ‘That’s pretty cool. I never saw anybody do that. Pretty cool.’”

The Jets ended up winning the next week and playing at the AFC Championship game in January, which tells all this nonsense, worked the perfection.

In the end nothing happened but it was really shocking … I mean to find out Mark Sanchez thinks he’s a badass… I would pay to see him get his butt whipped.

Well, did anyone feel like I did during the National Anthem? At first, I was like ‘that sounded wrong.’ But then I saw players nodding and swaying, you just kind of let it go.

Then I saw an article on yahoo sports. She did it. She committed the mistake only few have made. Christina Aguilera left out some words. Don’t believe me?

Then there was the Black Eyed Peas. Fun to watch, if you had it on mute. This is a true showing of how new-age technology can change a person’s voice. Some of these stars can’t even sing. I was one of the many people tired of seeing washed up bands and performers from the 70s during the once great Super Bowl halftime show (thanks JT and Janet Jackson).

Anyways, can we get Taylor Swift or the cast of Glee who can actually sing? By the way Christina Aguilera defended herself . Too bad she messed up. I feel bad for her. We all know the girl can sing!

Remember the song “Who Let the Dogs Out” by the Baha Men? If they went on a comeback tour, would you buy tickets? No. You surely would not. However, the Padres, Rangers, the Orange County Flyers, and recently the Yankees would.

That “Baha Men” comeback tour is my equivalent to Mark Prior’s comeback tour. The teams listed above have all taken a chance on this guy (Orange County is in an independent league called the Golden Baseball League). Mark Prior, there’s the good and the bad…

GOOD- Flashback to 2003. The Cubs 2001 draft pick had a Cy Youngish season winning 18 games, K-ing 245, with an ERA of 2.43! He also pitched 211.1 innings (spoiler alert- this is a lot of innings for a young pitcher). The Cubs went to the playoffs and were World Series bound. The Bartman thing, Alex Gonzalez error, and the rest is history. I do wish for Mark this was the beginning of something special but it was nearing the end for him.

A mediocre 04 and 05 season was in the making. After a few rough starts in 06, Mark prior would not pitch again in the MLB. Injuries began to retard his brief career. It sucks for a talented player but sometimes it just isn’t in the cards. Ask Derrick Turnbow.

BAD- You can always hang it up right? No, athletes can’t. It’s their downfall. You respect the fighter inside of them but they can never realize that their body is falling apart (research Terrell Davis). Mark spent some time with the Padres but barely wore a jersey. Last year the Rangers said what the heck. It didn’t work out. Now, the Yankees have thrown their hat in the ring.

It’s a little stinky. The guy hasn’t thrown an MLB pitch since 06 and in nine starts he had an ERA of 7.21 going 1-6. Like former teammate Matt Clement, the injury bug has latched onto his skin. Clement hasn’t pitched since 06 either (he threw 65.1 innings that year as a starter).

It’s hard to say goodbye for these guys. It’s like a one-night stand. It was fun that night (season), but it will never happen again. Most likely because your injured.

Have a good time Mr. Roethlisbergeer you’re in the Super Bowl again! Pop a bottle, let you’re body waddle!.

Yeah, that isn’t really Ben but it might as well be. What is this guy doing at a bar before the Super Bowl. He should be no where near any type of situation that looks like this. I don’t care if he takes his linemen out before a game or not, this is dumb guy. People are starting to get the wrong impression.

Remember the haircut he had when he was accused of his last sexual assault case? Guilty as charged! Then he does stuff like this. He must know why people have a bad view of him. Lately, fans are taking whatever chance they get to go against Rodger Goodell. I can’t believe that Goodell likes Ben (thus the 6 game suspension without an actual conviction).

All I’m saying to ya #7 is you don’t have some of the characteristics that most fans like in other guys (I’m thinking of another # 7). You should shy away from scenes like this and head to a restaurant at 6pm with your fat friends (linemen). Good luck in the Super Bowl…Packers 24 Steelers 17, Aaron Rodgers SB MVP.

My much delayed commentary on the Albert Pujols deal is here. And it’s simple. Slide a blank check across the table St. Louis. When he’s done with it, sign the bottom. The man has meant more to St. Louis than any athlete ever has to their respective city. It’s just the truth. LeBron James in Cleveland isn’t even in this category. When you hear Cardinals, you think number five. I’ll break this down for you.

1. He’s legend..wait for it….LEGENDARY. In all seriousness, he has that glow about him that only a handful of athletes do. You see sick children’s eyes light up as he enters a room. Grown men turn into giddy school girls as he shoots screaming line-drives into the bleachers. I might have a personal man-crush too. Pay him.

2. Along the same lines, he’s done more for the Gateway City than any other person. He cares about St. Louis. His charities, work ethic, and values have touched many. St. Louisians, HE WANTS TO BE HERE TOO! Is there a person that deserves this contract more? Has he EVER said ANYTHING ‘like pay me’, ‘I’m worth this…’, ‘or it’s all about the money’? No. He has class. Pay him.

3. The numbers and awards. Look them up. Pay him.

4. He’s the most feared hitter in the game. Coaches cringe when the third spot in the Red Birds lineup has a shot in the ninth. Lou Piniella once hinted he might walk a run in with the bases loaded in the ninth if Pujols was at bat. Bobby Cox said he’d pay him 50 million a year. These are old school managers we’re talking about. AND Pujols brought the Cards to TWO World Series, winning in 2006. Pay him.

5. My favorite reason. He’s clean. No one can put him in the company of Sosa, Bonds, Clemens, and Giambi. Moreover, he has taken any attention away from the guy who used to play first for the Cards, The super-sized Big Mac. Albert is the great white knight of baseball. He is the games’ savior and he resides in St. Louis.

St. Louis Cardinals, it doesn’t matter the cost. It doesn’t matter if you win 50 games a year for the next ten seasons he’s there. It doesn’t matter if you win another World Series during his remaining tenure. You won’t survive the backlash (especially if he winds up in the Windy City). Pay him!

If you haven’t heard, the NY Jets are annoying. Antonio Cromartie tweeted an aggressive response to a tweet Matt Hasselbeck had sent out. These athletes are starting to use words so look out (they don’t have a great hold on the English language).

“Somebody ask Cromartie if he knows what CBA stands for,” Hasselbeck tweeted. Which is funny, and slightly derogatory. Then Matt deleted it and Antonio Cromartie so brilliantly tweeted “Hey Matt if u have something to then say it be a man about it. Don’t erase it. I will smash ur face in.” Awesome articulation!

Well, Matt apologized after Cromartie flexed his muscles, and his grammar. If you’d enjoy more Cromartie speech then check out his thoughts on the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Here’s the article.

Goog times! I tweeted this “I wonder why so many people think athletes are jerks? Haha but they’re fun to watch hit each other!!” Follow me if you want @tedmaguire

Well, that’s out of the way. It was so classy of him to bad mouth his former coach while introducing his new one. Hue Jackson, not Hugh Jackman, was probably really excited to introduced as coach and not really be the thesis of the Davis comments.

Tom Brady is having the best season of his career, and remember he had a 50 TD season. A 45-3 beat down isn’t even telling of how well Tom can throw the ball against some of the best defenses. After tearing apart New York, Brady visited the Chicago Bears. That defense isn’t too shabby either but you just look at the box score and get back to me.
I like the Pats 28-13. The Ravens 10-13 in a blood bath. The Bears 17-6 in the most boring game of the week. And I’ll take the Falcons 24-21 in what could come down to which QB has the ball at the end of the game. Regardless of who New England plays I’ll take them in the Super Bowl to beat the Falcons by seven, 31-24. What a season.

Oh, did I forget the Pro Bowl? Who cares!

The MLB Hall of Fame voters have made their decision. I’m one happy camper. Bert Blyleven FINALLY got into the Hall. His stats are ridiculous, look them up. And of course, Roberto Alomar got the nod as well (should have been first ballot).

Although the big story that we should all be talking about is who isn’t getting the votes. Listen to this, Mark McGwire: 19.8 percent Rafael Palmeiro: 11 percent Juan Gonzalez: 5.2 percent Kevin Brown: 2.1 percent Benito Santiago: 0.2 percent Jeff Bagwell: 41.7 percent. Now, forget about Santiago and Brown because they’re never going to get in no matter what because of statistics and performance. BUT Bagwell with almost 40%! Slap in the face. McGwire’s votes continue to dwindle and Palmeiro can take his name off the ballot tomorrow if he wants to.

No one even close to the steriod era is getting in, period. Bagwell wasn’t even really linked but ht was big and teammates with former MVP Ken Caminiti, an admitted steroid user. Now the Hall will become the gauntlet. You better pray you were not even talking to ANYONE using steroids in the 98-2005 time period. Otherwise, you’re banned!

Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Clemens all await their fate. But I can tell you right now, the writers are taking a stand. If Pete Rose isn’t in then the cheaters aren’t either. It’s their policy. And I LOVE it! This sends a message to the youth. You cheat; you lose.
By the way this is a funny video of some kids pegging all the known steroid users in a video game.
