2010 All Star Game Starters

These are what I believe the starting lineups should look like for the 2010 All Star game. Remember, there’s always going to be a player or two that qualifies just as much as the next. However, I like this list.
AL
1B- Miguel Cabrera- He’s batting over 330 with 20 homers and 60 plus RBIS, it’s a no-brainer
2B- Robinson Cano- Duh! MVP-type year.
[picappgallerysingle id="5043498"]
SS- Elvis Andrus- You might not know who he is but you will by September. This isn’t a big year for AL shortstops but Elvis already as 21 stolen bases.
3B- Adrian Beltre- This is a shocker I know. He was lost in Seattle but remember that ’04 48 homer season? Well, he only has 12 but with a 340 BA!
C- Joe Mauer- Do we talk about this one? You could possibly make a case for Victor Matinez
[picappgallerysingle id="8543511"]
DH Vladimir Guerrero- Monster year and no one saw it coming.
OF- Josh Hamilton- Another easy one. He’s almost batting 350.
OF- Tori Hunter- There are better batting average choices but he has 53 RBIs and is a true outfielder.
[picappgallerysingle id="3225616"]
OF- David DeJesus- The one I’ll certainly get flack for. He doesn’t do anything special but he’s batting 331! He’ll be on the block this July and some team is going to be happy.
NL
[picappgallerysingle id="6739243"]
1B- Albert Pujols- You know, this isn’t an automatic one this year. Adrian Gonzales has very considerable numbers, so does Joey Votto. But still it’s the machine.
2B- Martin Prado- It’s not Prada I know. But 23 doubles and a 330 plus average will get you there.
SS- Hanley Ramirez- He has yet to turn in on but is still the obvious choice.
[picappgallerysingle id="9105600"]
3B- David Wright- Welcome back David. Haven’t seen you since 2008.
C- Ronny Paulino- Not even on the ballot and I don’t get it. It’s a down year for batting catchers but Ronny has been great. You could give it to Miguel Olivo or Pudge but I like the way Paulino has played. He has the top BA so he’s my choice!
[picappgallerysingle id="8915512"]
OF-Marlon Byrd- It hurts me to say it but I’ve been wrong about you Marlon. I said his season would be subpar but I admit total error on my part. He’s the best Cub by miles and miles this year.
OF- Andrew McCutchen- Probably the only Pirate on the squad but he’s a shoe-in with his SBs, nice batting, spotty power, and incredible plays.
OF- Andre Either- I had a couple thoughts for this spot. One might DH, Colby Rasmus, Carlos Gonzales, Ryan Braun, Matt Holliday are all deserving. I like Either though, he battled through injuries and kept all his stats ip there with guys like Byrd.

Well those are my starters. Read ‘em and weep.

The Machine

Albert isn’t in much of a “slump” anymore. I put slump in quotation marks because unlike most players, he doesn’t really falter.
[picappgallerysingle id="8923239"]
His three homeruns today were enough o give the Cards the series against their NL Central rivals. The cubs seemed to be relatively over matched this weekend. The win they knew they were getting came easy off of the Red Birds rookie call up.
[picappgallerysingle id="8870051"]
Yet, the other two games were no contest and the Cubs went down without a whimper. Pujols has now hit three homeruns in a game four times!
[picappgallerysingle id="8861015"]
Also, he has hit over 40 big flies against the Cubbies. Boy does he love to play these guys. So does Ryan Ludwick. Last year Luddy was hitting flies all over the Cubs and he didn’t disappoint this time either. The Reds better watch out for the Cardinals come tomorrow. It’s the first of a three game set in St. Louis. STRIKE ONE!

Kendry Morales can’t feel good. He broke his leg jumping up and down after a walk off. This guy has it all. Or at least he had it all.
[picappgallerysingle id="8952327"]
You can’t do stuff like that. We saw Prince Fielder do that ridiculous dance last year on a walk off and get plunked the next spring by Barry Zito for it. I have to admit I get sick of this crap in baseball. This is our national past time and there needs to be respect for this game.

Babe Ruth wasn’t doing this stuff and neither should the players of today. I mean, right now these guys are good players but they aren’t great. If it’s Barry Bonds tossing the bat that’s fine. He earned it. As for Morales, he doesn’t even have 80 career bombs. Most people east of Cali might not know who he is.
[picappgallerysingle id="8924850"]
Now, he is a youngster with talent. But listen, I bet you he won’t be dancing next time he rounds the paths. STRIKE TWO!

I do have a prediction for the NBA Finals. I hope we get seven of ‘em too. The Lakers are going down to the Celtics in seven. I have faith in the team that won it just two years ago.
[picappgallerysingle id="8955325"]
Yes, they are a little older. That does matter in basketball I know. But they have the experience too. Garnett looks primed for another one. Rondo has been unbelievable in this post season. Kobe is unstoppable too. That’s a given.
[picappgallerysingle id="8945295"]
However, teams have proven that you can beat the Lakers even when he performs. You aren’t going to stop him. You aren’t going to limit him. But you can control what the rest of the team does. That’s how the Celtics are going to do it. It won’t be easy, that’s a no doubter. Celtics in seven. STRIKE THREE AND I’M OUT!

Tebow-McDaniels Era?

Forever the two names will be linked. Josh McDaniels and Tim Tebow
[picappgallerysingle id="8611966"]
Will he play QB, HB, or TE no one knows but I have my two cents. I think the years, not days, are numbered for Kyle Orton. He’ll get this year, unless he falters horribly. He had a great year last season and they are trying to put young talent around him. Remember the “Wild Horses” set the Broncos ran against New England last year?
[picappgallerysingle id="8611949"]
It truly stumped Big Bill B of the Patriots (but what didn’t on the road in ’09). That could be Tim’s ticket to success in year one. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets his shot in 2011. Orton is sitting on a one year deal. And let’s face it, Quinn? Yeah right! STRIKE ONE!

Ryan Howard is set. He won’t be the one of the big guys headed to NY or Boston in 2011. After the Phillies paid him it left some questions about other sluggers around the league.
[picappgallerysingle id="8438432"]
Adrian Gonzalez is thought to be moving at the break. BUT if the Padres can play like this until July they might have to hang onto him knowing he could leave in 2011. He is a young power-hitting first basemen who I could see in Boston.
[picappgallerysingle id="8629700"]
Then there is Albert Pujols. He isn’t going anywhere but he will see some increase in his bank account come 2012. The Cards will most likely option him next year for some 16 plus deal. But at the age of 32 he could see gaudy numbers thrown at him.

Who knows? No one. I wouldn’t be surprised if number five is our first 35 million dollar man. STRIKE TWO!

I don’t like bold statements. Especially silly ones like Pujols trades with Howard. However, could we see a week three NFL season trade of Ben Roethlisberger? Why not?
[picappgallerysingle id="8595053"]
A team like Buffalo. Nothing to lose in a division where they have nowhere to go. There is no QB that can take the helm successfully there but if a third team came in to help move Big Ben to the Bills….hey it could happen. What team would help? Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Baltimore sure would!
[picappgallerysingle id="7491430"]
Bills send picks to one of those three, they get Big Ben, and one of the (Cin, Cle, Bal) teams sends a big time player to the Steelers? It could happen. He has made them mad and they could just try a deal if Dennis Dixon could salvage a 7-9 or 8-8 season. I mean, they don’t have Ben for the first six anyways right? STRIKE THREE AND I’M OUT!

QB Shuffle, Cardinal Injuries, Lopez and the Nets

Who do I want in Philly? How about the guy who’s been to the big game. How about the guy who has year-in-year-out been a top ten QB. How about Donovan McNabb.

I hope they get rid of him. I hope he goes somewhere and throws 30 TDs, 5 picks, and 4,500 yards. The Philadelphia fans are so stupid. They love then they hate him. For what? Kevin Kolb!?! Michael Vick!?! Let’s be real here.
[picappgallerysingle id="6794900"]
Kolb played well, for Houston four years ago. He’s throw the ball 130 times in his career. Oh yea, by the way last year he was mediocre at best. Don’t forget two years ago when he came in the game at half time and was abysmal. Then there is Vick. He threw 13 passes last year (which was his most since 2007…haha sorry). Do people remember Michael Vick football?
[picappgallerysingle id="3405693"]
His only great game was against Favre in Green Bay in the playoffs. Good ONE game Vick. His career passer rating is that of an OK QB. He usually throws a couple more TDs than INTs. Never has he thrown for 3,000 yards. AND he fumbles and creates sacks.
[picappgallerysingle id="7484357"]
Then there is McNabb. Is there any comparison. 32,000 career yards, 216-100 TD/INT ratio (that’s really good). And he is coming off a great season. Philly, look at the numbers. Don’t be stupid. the Kolb/Vick show will be entertaining but not successful. STRIKE ONE! (more…)
