LeBron to Miami for Super Team

Posted by tlm87
July 7, 2010

Just think, LeBron goes to the Miami Heat to assist D-Wade and Bosh. Isn’t that a great idea?
[picappgallerysingle id="1955286"]
We all want to see another team like the Jordan-Pippen-Rodman show but it probably won’t happen. LeBron James will be too scared to leave Cleveland and be known as a traitor.
[picappgallerysingle id="8626702"]
Moreover, he most likely wants to win “his” championship. He’ll be forever tied to Bosh and Wade if he goes to Miami to play with a trifecta.
[picappgallerysingle id="7003022"]
But listen LeBron. We want it. Let’s put aside our own feelings and give America what it wants. The super team. We’ll find out Thursday I suppose.

Top 10 NBA No. 1s of All Time

June 26, 2010

Since 1966, these are my Top 10 number one picks of NBA history.
10. Patrick Ewing ’86 Georgetown AND LeBron James ’03 St. Vincent-St. Mary HS (OH).
[picappgallerysingle id="3012454"]
Now, this will be the only tie on the list. I’m doing this because these are the only NON champions on the list. LeBron makes it because of his obvious skill and probability to win a title.

Ewing might be the greatest player to never win one. His career 21 ppg was impressive for the big man. We’ll always remember him a Knick although he sputtered with the Sonics and Magic at the end. I really thought he’d pull it off in the finals against the Spurs but the lost in five.
[picappgallerysingle id="8627090"]
James is the complete package. A no-brainer at #1 overall. He’ll win one. Heck, he already has two MVPS.

9. Tim Duncan ’97 Wake Forrest.
I don’t even think they knew what they were getting in San Antonio. The quiet guy was spectacular.
[picappgallerysingle id="4449046"]
He, James, and Shaq are the only active players on my list and he definitely deserves in. He will arguably go down as one of the 50 greatest players of all time. Who’s he going to knock out though?

8. Hakeem Olajuwen ’84 Houston.
Drafted out of Houston to play in Houston, he was the dream. Over 3,800 blocks and nearly 27,000 points, I love him. We all remember the shot. We all remember the player.

Thanks goodness Michael Jordan tried out baseball. Otherwise, Ewing might have some championless company.

7. Shaqueille O’Neal ’92 Louisiana State.
Shaq is awesome. Great movies, great music, great interviews, and unbelievable play. We might never forgive him and Kobe for destroying what could have been the greatest dynasty of all time. However, no one could stop Shaq.
[picappgallerysingle id="1791388"]
He was a mess at the free throw line but who cares? He was a monster in the paint. He’s been juggled around lately but he’ll always have a place among the greatest and one of the best number one draft picks ever.

6. James Worthy ’82 North Carolina.
One of many Lakers on this list. He was a champion at heart. More than just at heart, he won three.
[picappgallerysingle id="3897542"]
The seven-time all star is remembered for his career 21 ppg in the post season and he too is a top 50 player in NBA history. It’s deserving to say the least. His nickname says it all, Big Game James.

5. David Robinson ’87 Navy.
The Spurs have the twin towers on the list together. Robinson, the Admiral, was ferocious. I would have liked more games played from him but he hung it up shortly after winning the big one.
[picappgallerysingle id="3012462"]
Could Duncan have had a better mentor? No. Robinson took tiny Tim under his wing passing the San Antonio torch along. David, what a career.

4. Elvin Hayes ’68 Houston.
Some people might not know Hayes now. Maybe your grandfather or dad could tell you. The definition of a work horse. He missed nine games in 16 seasons.

But he didn’t just have the longevity. He was defensive. He averaged 12.5 rebounds a game with 21 points to go with it. He was a 6’9 forward who shot 67 from the line. He had it all including a title in ’78. There’s only a handful of players with more points than him. Two Malones, Jordan, Chamberlain, and Kareem. Wow.

3. Bill Walton ’74 UCLA.
One of the best TV voices in sports is also my third best number one. Ahead of Hayes only because he won the MVP award making him the best player in 1978.
[picappgallerysingle id="5757836"]
Walton won a couple titles and was on some fantastic Blazer teams. Although it seems some remember him a Celtic, he won with Portland. Either way we’ll all remember his voice 50 years from now.

2. Earvin Magic Johnson ’79 Indiana.
Yeah, he’s number two. Five time Champ and three time MVP. He’s a golden boy. His house probably looks like the NBA trophy room.
[picappgallerysingle id="2512577"]
He went to 12 games as an all star. Ouch. He was the Finals MVP three times too! The list goes on and we wonder who could be in front of this guy? Will it be another Laker? Am I just pulling your leg and Magic should be number one? Well, it’s a Laker and no I haven’t made a mistake.

1. Kareem Abdul Jabbar ’69 UCLA.
Duh! Drafted by Milwaukee in 1969, he was the best. What were they thinking trading him to the Lakers?

In L.A. he’d win three more MVPs and NBA titles. Some argue he is the greatest player period. It’s hard to argue his resume. The man won six titles, six MVPs, 10 all first teams, 5 all first defensive teams, and was a 19 time all star. He was a 19 time all star. I said it twice I know.
[picappgallerysingle id="3463549"]
Kareem defined what it meant to be a great player. He paved the way for guys like Jordan and Kobe. Moreover, he paved the way for a handful of guys on this list. His numbers are decent to say the least.

Well the list might not be perfect but it’s worthy. From the non champs at 10 to the six timer at one, these are the Top 10 NBA No. 1s of All Time.

Strike Two: LeBron’s Got-to Stay

[picappgallerysingle id="7088607"]LeBron has been pretty quiet right? I think so. I’d like to see him build a super team in New York just like the star-studded cast that the big apple has put together.
[picappgallerysingle id="6144221"]
However, it just doesn’t make that much sense to leave. As I’ve said many time before he’ll become a very unliked player. Moreover, what does he have to gain by leaving.
[picappgallerysingle id="7088234"]
He’s already the most popular player outside of L.A. Also, he’s the most dominate. When he leaves Cleveland he will have to restart everything over again.
[picappgallerysingle id="7088614"]
He’s almost there where he’s at. You know the Cavs will pay and lay him. So LeBron, just stay and sign to get it all over with.

STRIKE TWO!

Strike Three: Lakers Lakers Lakers

Well that games wasn’t close. Not time to panic for the Celtics but you did get poned. I still think the Celtics fair the best but game two is one that needs to be stolen.
[picappgallerysingle id="9024250"]
Most teams that win game one go on to win it all. The Celtics looked rather old and Kobe was in prime form. Could he win his fifth? And if he does is he almost what Jordan was? Calm down I know. I still think the Celtics will win this series but they need to steal a road game.
[picappgallerysingle id="9024249"]
I think that Boston can win all their home games but let’s go back to Kobe. Is he really about to win five? Jordan had six and then left. Kobe isn’tgoing anywhere. Neither is his team. Let’s say Jackson stays around for another go to get Kobe his sixth or maybe even seventh? When do we crown Kobe (an dethrown LeBron who can’t even win one finals game).
[picappgallerysingle id="9024278"]
All I’m saying is the discussion of Kobe better than Michael will begin if he gets this one. And we aren’t that far from those talks. Jordan fans, start wearing your green and white.

STRIKE THREE AND I’m OUT

LeBron Visits the King

Posted by tlm87
June 1, 2010

Larry King will host LeBron James on his show Friday night. The featured questions will surely be about where King James is leaning towards ending up for the 2010-11 season.
[picappgallerysingle id="8787164"]
LeBron has been more of a media junky than Brett Favre this year. Will he or won’t he has been the topic of every Cleveland newspaper for months. They didn’t even care about the playoffs this year. How sad is that?!
[picappgallerysingle id="8765058"]
My opinion, James better stay with the Cavs. He will become the most hated player in sports history. Players that demand trades or create this drama don’t end up well liked.
[picappgallerysingle id="6246703"]
Just ask the Denver Broncos how much they like how Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall treated them. Red Sox fans weren’t too big of Manny fans after his demands. The Eagles and Terrell Owens…enough said.
[picappgallerysingle id="8767581"]
LeBron is loved in Cleveland without the ring. He needs to stay or he will forever be remembered as the guy who left the Cavs and the city in the dust. I mean, they even forgave him for the dreaded Yankees hat at the Indians game stunt. STRIKE ONE!

Barring any unbelievable collapse, Ubaldo Jimenez will win the Cy Young. With a no hitter under his belt, a 10-1 record, and an ERA under one, he has it locked up.
[picappgallerysingle id="8968082"]
Jimenez is truly gifted. But this talent has sort of come out left field. He was quite good last year. 15 wins and an ERA just under 3.50. Before that his ERA was just under 4.00 in 2008 and he was 12-12. However, how do you get here from there?
[picappgallerysingle id="8968080"]
Whatever the 26 year-old is doing it is working. He is sensational. Ubaldo is giving us a reason to watch the Rockies who are playing in a very competitive NL West.

I still think that the Dodgers will win that one with the Giants taking the Wild Card. But hey, the Padres are great too and if Jimenez can try and keep his club in it, who knows? well, I do. It’ll be L.A. and San Fran. STRIKE TWO!

I took some time to wait and release my feelings on the 2014 cold bowl. To be honest, who cares?
[picappgallerysingle id="8912724"]
This game is played in all kinds of climates during the year. The Chargers never see a spec of bad weather in San Diego. Now, if they go to their division rival in Denver late in the year, they could be bombarded with snow.
[picappgallerysingle id="8912528"]
Every team should be prepared for this kind of weather so it really shouldn’t matter. Football analysts are going crazy and I heard Mike and Mike in the morning go nuts over this too. But come on guys, it’s football.
[picappgallerysingle id="1839444"]
The Colts-Bears Super Bowl was plyed in pouring down rain. So what? It’s the game we love to watch. I don’t prefer rain over snow or clear skies over cloudy scary-looking skies. We are being ridiculous here. The fact is the East got this Super Bowl and good for them. I hope they start putting these games all over the U.S.

Maybe Soldier Field could get one? STRIKE THREE AND I’M OUT!
