Week 9 in the NFL- Who’s the Best?

The Baltimore Ravens are the best team in the NFL. Not a doubt in my mind. They had a slip up early against the Bengals, a team playing below their capability.

Also, the Ravens lost a tough one to the Patriots but that game was in New England. This team can play. They’re the favorite to win the AFC but I’ll still stick with my Colts pick to win it all. Now, the Ravens are the team to beat but there’s a great number of good teams. You have the Steelers, Jets, Pats, Colts, and Titans all capable of making a run. You know who I like as a sleeper?

Don’t write off the Dolphins. They went down without too much of a fight against Baltimore this week. And I know they’re in a rough and tough division. But listen, they have the Bears, Browns, Bills, Lions, and Raiders on their remaining schedule. I know the Raiders are better but whatever. If they win those five they’re a nine win team. The other three games are the Pats, Jets, and next week at home versus the Titans. Win one of those three, ten wins could get them in!

Who could the worst team in the league? It isn’t the Bills. It could be the Cowboys or Broncos. It’s not. The Carolina Panthers are awful. The only game they won was handed to them personally from Mike Singletary and the 49ers. The Panthers just lost Matt Moore for the rest of the year but…I mean…does it matter? Steven Smith has two touchdowns, Moore already had ten picks, and Jimmy Clausen has been brutal. DeAngelo Williams is probably happy he got to sit out the game versus the Saints this week. It was stinky.

The poor Panthers can finally let go of John Fox after this year. They were so good in 2008 but last year Jake Delhome must have left a stank in the building that won’t go away. It’s like a mustard stain on a white T, might as well throw it away and get a new one.

2010 Preview of the AFC and NFC East

Well, the AFC East has some surprises in it. Maybe just one because I only think one team is going to the playoffs from this division. The Patriots are going to win it. Randy Moss is in his last year and will most likely kill it. Wes Welker was a good fantasy pick this year if you got him in late rounds. Don’t expect the same totals but he’s going to be effective.

I have the Pats going 10-6. The division has a tough road ahead. I think the NFC North might have their way with these guys. The Jets are not as good as people think they are. Mark Sanchise is going to throw picks and their prized corner might not be a happy camper.

The Dolphins are a notch below the Pats and sit right about where the Jets do. I like the addition of Brandon Marshall but it isn’t enough. Oh, and the Bills are awful. They could get # 7 from Arizona.

The Cowboys are the popular pick in the NFC East and I’ll jump aboard. They’re my NFC Super Bowl team as well. This will be the year Romo finally pushes them to the next level. Dallas is 12-4.

The Giants are my second wildcard team along with the Pack-attack as you might have recalled in my NFC North preview. It’s going to be a tough division as always but the wildcard is going to be cutthroat in both conferences. I like the Giants at 11-5 and the Skins behind them at 8-8. I think the Eagles might be a seven win team. Yuck. Shouldn’t have ditched McNabb.

On with the AFC and NFC South tomorrow!

Verlander's New Deal, Are the CO Buffalos good, Rex Ryan

Well, the Tigers did something right recently. They locked up Justin Verlander for at least half a decade. Five years and 80 million ain’t too shabby (well deserved). Fantastic rookie and sophomore seasons in the MLB netted him 35 wins. He has been good since the day Detroit brought him up (his 19 wins, 269 Ks, and 240 IP last year were ok too). They needed to pay this guy becuase it was certain that if he hit the market, he’d be wearing pinstripes or wearing a cap with a big B on it. STRIKE ONE! (more…)
